If you're trying to decide what area of Mexico you want to go, the state of Sinaloa is definitely a state to be considered. The beautiful state of Sinaloa is located in the northwestern part of Mexico with borders that include Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, Nayarit, and the Pacific Ocean. The origin of the state's name comes from the Native Cahita language which literally means "rounded fruit". The state of Sinaloa is further split into 18 municipalities which are: Escuinapa, El Rosario, Mazatlan, Concordia, San Ignacio, Cosala, Elota, Culiacan, Navolato, Salvador Alvarado, Guasave, Badiraguato, Mocorito, Angostura, Sinaloa de Leyva, Ahome, Choix and El Fuerte.
The 22,521-square-mile geographical land of Sinaloa is one of the most diverse in Mexico, containing rivers, beaches, jungles, mountains and deserts. The state of Sinaloa is also one of Mexico's most important states agriculture wise and is know as the "Bread Basket of Mexico". The state of Sinaloa major produce includes grains, tomatoes, cotton, sugarcane and rice. The state of Sinaloa was originally home to hunter and gatherer tribes including Cahitas, Tahues, Totrames, Pancaxees, Acaxees, and the Xiximes. March 1531 was the year that Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán from Spain invaded the current-day Culiacan. In 1824 Mexico declared its independence and Sonora and Sinaloa was formed into the Internal Western State. However in 1830 the Internal Western State was split into what is now current day Sonora and Sinaloa.

Summer in the state of Sinaloa is from May to October with daytime highs potentially exceeding 100º. The rainy seasons consists of heavy thunderstorms with strong winds and rain start in July and last till August. After the rainy season the temperature returns back to normal with high humidity. The cooler temperatures come in by mid-October and from December to February the high ranges from 70º to 80º and nightly lows between 45º to 60º.

- If you are entering Mexico you need a US passport or a copy of your birth certificate, a driver license is not valid identification.
- When in Sinaloa, it's not recommended that you drink the tap water. If possible buy bottle water or boil tap water first before drinking it.
- Make sure to bring sunscreen, the sun in Sinaloa is much stronger then other parts of the US. It's also recommended that you wear loose fit clothing preferably made out cotton and other lightweight material; it makes the heat much more tolerable.
- A small flashlight may become useful as Sinaloa has short power outages from time to time.
