Mazatlán is a welcoming place for visitors because there are a number of medical services available here should you ever need them. It is a good idea to purchase travel insurance before your trip just in case something does happen to you and you are not able to make it home. Many travel companies do provide it as an option. Mazatlán offers state-of-the-art medical facilities, professionally trained doctors and health professionals. With four hospitals in the city, you can feel confident that you will be treated with dignity and respect in Mazatlán with your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico.
Medical Services
There are four hospitals in Mazatlán that are easy to get to with your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico. They are:
- Sharp Hospital
- Cruz Roja Mexicana (Red Cross)
- Sanatorio Divina Providencia
- Clinica del Mar
Botica del Carmen is Mazatlán's oldest pharmacy and drug store. They also offer low-cost medical consultations and dental work, should you ever need it. It is located near the main market, easy to get to with your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico. Since they are only closed on Christmas and New Years Day, you can always count on them to help you out.
There is also Tourist Medical Assistance, a 24-hour clinic in the heart of the Golden Zone. If you are not able to get to the hospital with your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico, then visit the clinic. Be sure to read below so you know your rights while you are receiving medical services in Mexico though.
Important! Please Read Before Your Trip
If you do find yourself in need of medical services, try to visit a hospital recommended by your hotel that is reputable. If you do find yourself being charged large fees, don't be intimidated. Never surrender your passport and don't sign anything. You do not need to complete an "exit survey" and you do not need to pay your bill before being given an itemized bill. The Consumer Protection laws allow you to demand reimbursement of overpaid charges for any type of service, so save your receipts and itemized accounts in case you need to file a lawsuit. Under Article 281 of the Sinaloa Penal Code, it is against the law for any "hospital, sanatorium, clinic, dispensary, nursing facility or any other health center" to stop you from leaving by claiming you have not paid your bill. If you are faced with this situation, you should go to your Consulate right away with your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico. If you do need to visit the hospital, ask the doctor what he charges before the procedure and get an itemized bill DAILY from the hospital. In Mazatlán, Sharp Hospital and Clinica del Mar do provide these.
Enjoy your vacation in Mazatlán, but make sure you are prepared for the unexpected by planning ahead. Find out from your travel agent or do a search of the nearest hospital and a route for your car rental in Mazatlán, Mexico. Have your insurance papers handy in case of emergency.
